CS2 CASE ROI — FAQ

Which CS2 case has the best ROI?
ROI rankings change with the market. Generally, active-drop cases (Kilowatt, Revolution, Dreams & Nightmares) have the highest expected value relative to key cost because their skins are most in demand. Sort by ROI% above to see the current live ranking.
Is it worth opening CS2 cases?
Financially, no — all cases have negative EV. On average you get back 30–70% of what you spend. Case opening is entertainment, not investment. Use this calculator to understand exactly what you're getting into before spending real money.
What is expected value (EV) in CS2?
EV is the probability-weighted average dollar return per case. CS2Lab calculates it using Valve's official drop rates, float-weighted wear pricing, 10% StatTrak rate, and individual per-phase Doppler prices (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Black Pearl priced separately — no blending).
How often are prices updated?
Steam Market prices are pulled every 5 minutes. The timestamp on each case card shows the exact last-update time so you always know how fresh the data is.
What is the difference between ROI% and EV?
EV is the average dollar return per open. ROI% is EV divided by total cost (case + $2.49 key), as a percentage. ROI% of 60% means you get back $0.60 for every $1 spent on average.
Which CS2 cases have the highest knife value?
Cases with rare knife finishes command the most — Gamma Case (Gamma Doppler), Glove Case (Sport Gloves), and Kilowatt Case (Kukri Knife) tend to have high knife EV. Check the knife price column in the table view for a direct comparison.
